Morningside College students sing of their heritage

             

Morningside College will present a vocal recital at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave.  This event is free and open to the public. 

This year's theme, “We Are the World: The Voices of our Heritage,” will center on songs that reflect each singer’s heritage.  This event is being produced and prepared by the voice studios in the Morningside music department. 

The voice teachers who will have students performing are Gail Dooley, associate professor and chair of music; Steve Lundberg, music adjunct faculty member; Shannon Salyards, music adjunct faculty member; and Kate Saulsbury, executive director of the Leo Kucinski Academy of Music.  Jayne Koch and Carolyn Price are the staff accompanists for the recital.

The nationalities being represented are the United States, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Sweden. 

Morningside students performing will be Nick Anderson, Britt Gebhardt, Annika Kolbo and Nick McGraw of Sioux City, Iowa; Megan Beery of Shenandoah, Iowa; John Calahan of Lincoln, Neb.; Jacob Chambers of Sheldon, Iowa; Haley Gabriel of Holdrege, Neb; Autumn Knipp of Elberon, Iowa; Maggie Konecne of Humboldt, Iowa; Scott Kruse of Guthrie Center, Iowa; Jaime Parkinson of Rock Rapids, Iowa; Jaimie Stevicks of Alta, Iowa; and Linsey Stoll of Archer, Iowa.
