Iowa governor appoints Morningside professor to commission

Keith JohnsonIowa Gov. Chet Culver has appointed Dr. Keith Johnson, a Morningside College professor, to serve on the Iowa Civil Rights Commission.

Johnson is a visiting assistant professor of business administration and economics at Morningside College.  His term on the civil rights commission will end on April 30, 2013.

This commission makes recommendations to the general assembly for further legislation concerning discrimination due to race, creed, color, sex, national origin, religion, ancestry, or disability.  Their main goal is to assist in raising the profile of civil and human rights. 

In addition to being a full-time faculty member at Morningside College, Johnson is the CEO and partner of Johnson Development Group, a consulting firm providing business and economic development services since 1985. 

He has his doctorates in Industrial Education and Technology and Higher Education, with a minor in Industrial Vocation Technology in Education, from Iowa State University. Dr. Johnson also has served as an Associate Dean and Dean for William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
