Morningside College hosts its 13th annual Christmas at Morningside concert on Friday, December 5, at 7:30 p.m. in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Avenue. The concert is free and open to the public.
Christmas at Morningside is a unique musical tradition held each year as a gift from Morningside College to the community. This year’s concert, “Of Angels and Shepherds,” retells the Christmas story with new and traditional music performed by vocalists and instrumentalists. The concert will feature Morningside College choral ensembles, instrumental ensembles and soloists. The First Presbyterian Church Choir and the Abu Bekr Shrine Chanters will make special guest appearance
Tim Watson, assistant professor of music, and Jill Wilson, visiting instructor of music, will direct the Morningside College Choral Union, Singing Men, Bel Canto Women's Chorus and Morningside College Choir. Instrumental ensembles that will perform include the Morningside Symphonic Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Cliff Towner, assistant professor of music; Brass Quintet; and the Morningside Trio. Jim March, professor of music, and Kathryn March, visiting professor of music, will perform a piano duet. Gail Dooley, associate professor of music and interim chair of Morningside's music department, will perform a vocal solo and accompany herself on the Appalachian dulcimer.
