Teams from North High School in Sioux City and Woodbury Central High School in Moville, Iowa, captured first-place finishes in the Quiz Bowl tournament held Saturday, March 20, at Morningside College.
North High School took first-place in the large-school division. One of two teams from South Sioux City High School took second place. The team from Norfolk Senior High School in Norfolk, Neb., took third place. The Estherville, Iowa, Lincoln Central High School team took fourth place.
In the small-school division, Woodbury Central High School took first-place honors. Second place went to Odebolt-Arthur-Battle Creek-Ida Grove High School in Ida Grove, Iowa. The team from Galva-Holstein High School in Holstein, Iowa, took third place. The team from Logan Magnolia High School in Logan, Iowa, took fourth place.
The tournament at Morningside College consisted of five rounds of competition during which teams were awarded points for correctly answering questions that ranged over the entire spectrum of a high school curriculum and also included questions on current events.
