Five Morningside College students to present papers at international convention

Five Morningside College students will present written work at the International Sigma Tau Delta Convention in St. Louis, which will take place March 17-20.

Sigma Tau Delta is an international English honor society that has more than 750 active chapters located in Europe, the Caribbean and the United States.

Student paper submissions for the international convention in St. Louis went through a blind review process, and were chosen based on writing quality.

Four Morningside students will present critical work at the convention, which is thesis-based research writing about literature and culture. They are Amanda Franzen of New Hampton, Iowa; Alec Henry of Griswold, Iowa; Laura Homan of Lebanon, Ill.; and Denise Schwery of Omaha, Neb.

Another Morningside student, Shea Hartmann Hodges of Sioux City, will present a short drama she wrote for a creative writing course.

“I’m really pleased that we are well-represented at the convention among our peers – and even schools much larger,” said Jen Moskowitz, assistant professor of English at Morningside. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to represent Morningside at the convention.”
