The Morningside College Mock Trial Team recently was ranked among the Purple Division Prestigious Top 10 Teams at the Loras College National Mock Trial Invitational in Dubuque, Iowa.
Morningside College ranked seventh overall at the Loras invitational, which is the largest intercollegiate mock trial tournament in the nation.
During the tournament, Morningside competed against Northwestern University of Evanston, Ill.; Marquette University of Milwaukee, Wis.; St. Ambrose University of Davenport, Iowa; and Carthage College of Kenosha, Wis.
Dillon Plantage, a Morningside College senior from Sioux City, won an intercollegiate award for his role as a witness at the tournament.
Other students on the Morningside College Mock Trial Team are David Ericson of Akron, Iowa; Johan Frafjord of Moville, Iowa; Kelsie Gagnon of Merrill, Iowa; Drake Johnson of Coppell, Texas; Jessica Kuhr of Platte Center, Neb.; Ashley Lewis of Sioux City; Samantha McCarville of Indianola, Neb.; Beth Norton of Yuma, Ariz.; and Nancy Waterstraat of Stralsund, Germany.
Attorney Amy Ellis, who works for the Woodbury County Attorney’s Office in Sioux City, coached the Morningside College Mock Trial Team with Kitty Green, instructor of history at Morningside.
