Foods from Japan, Taiwan, Puerto Rico, Sri Lanka, Syria, Ireland and Tanzania will be served during the 26th Annual International Student Banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Morningside College in the Yockey Family Community Room of the Olsen Student Center, 3609 Peters Ave.
The International Student Association hosts this event as a way to celebrate the diverse cultures on the Morningside College campus. It is also a time to recognize host families and graduating international students.
The banquet will include a short program, where there will be singing, dancing and a lesson in basic origami. Rachel Bellairs, a Morningside student from Clarinda, Iowa, will also talk about her experience at Kansai Gaidai University in Japan.
Admission to the event is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 3 to 12 and free of charge for children under age 3. Tickets will be available prior to the event from several Morningside College international students or by contacting Lillian López, associate professor of political science and faculty advisor for the International Student Association, at (712) 274-5225.
