Morningside College’s theatre department will present a children’s musical version of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” on Saturday and Sunday, April 8 and 9, at Klinger-Neal Theatre, 3700 Peters Avenue.
Show times are 6 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
The play was written by theatre professional Stan Gill, a former guest artist-in-residence at Morningside.
Cast members are Jessica Smith, a senior from Dakota Dunes, S.D., as Lady Jessica the Narrator; Nicole Helgeson, a sophomore from Altoona, Iowa, as Goldilocks; Christina Meranda, a freshman from Ceresco, Neb., as Mother; Audrey Hantla, a freshman from Sioux City, as Prudence; David Kenan, a sophomore from Cherokee, Iowa, as Papa Bear; Melissa Keiper, a junior from Lennox, S.D., as Mama Bear; and Sharona Ernst, a junior from Falls City, Neb., as Baby Bear.
Trey Blackburn, a freshman from Albia, Iowa, is the stage manager.
Piano accompaniment will be provided by Mabel Huldeen of Sioux City. Steve Lundberg, an adjunct faculty member in Morningside’s music department, is the play’s vocal coach. Randy Peters of Sioux City is the costume designer.
Admission for the public is $3. Reservations are not required, but can be made by calling 712-274-5196.
Approximately 2,400 students and teachers from area pre-schools and elementary schools will attend special weekday performances of the play.
Morningside’s theatre department produces four plays a year, including its fall and spring children’s plays, which have entertained more than 36,000 elementary school students and their teachers since 1987.
