A faculty recital by the Euclid Quartet, Morningside College’s resident string quartet, will be held on Friday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Eppley Auditorium. The free recital is open to the public.
The quartet will perform Beethoven’s String Quartet in A minor, Opus 132 i; Beethoven’s Opus 133 - “Grosse Fuga;” and four selections from Bartók’s Quartet No. 4.
Members of the quartet include Jameson Cooper, violin; Jacob Murphy, violin; Luis Vargas, viola; and Amy Joseph, cello.
The Euclid Quartet has been part of the Morningside College music faculty since 2001 while continuing to perform locally, regionally, and nationally both as a quartet and as solo musicians. They also serve as faculty for the Leo Kucinski Academy of Music.
The quartet was recently selected from a group of 160 ensembles to participate in the Fifth Osaka International Chamber Music Competition to be held May 18-25, in Osaka, Japan, and have signed an agreement with Centaur Records to record the group's first commercial compact disc featuring the string quartets of Hugo Kauder.
