Pianist Andrew Russo will present a recital at 8 p.m. on Monday, June 8, in Eppley Auditorium on the Morningside College Campus. Russo is featured artist at the Iowa Music Teachers Association state convention taking place at Morningside College June 7 through 9.
Tickets, which are $15, are available through the Morningside College music department office at 712-274-5210 or at the door the evening of the recital. Admission for students is free with an ID.
A Grammy-nominated recording artist, Russo has performed the works of contemporary American and European composers during appearances in New York, Paris, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rome, Leipzig, Munich, Brussels and London.
As a recitalist, Russo’s programs frequently feature premieres. In the last two years, he has given the U.S. premieres of works by Holland's Jacob ter Veldhuis and Gerard Beljon, the French premiere of George Crumb’s “Eine Kleine Mitternachtmusik,” and world premieres of works written for Russo by British composer James Aitchison and American composers Derek Bermel and Marc Mellits.
