Joel Weyand receives Admissions Professional of the Year award.


Joel WeyandJoel Weyand was named the 2007 Admissions Professional of the Year at the Iowa Association of College Admissions Counseling’s (IACAC) annual conference held in May in Okoboji, Iowa.


Weyand was chosen as the recipient of the award by a committee of his peer members of IACAC in recognition of his dedication to helping students at the post-secondary level. Over 163 individuals throughout the state of Iowa were nominated for the award.


Weyand joined the staff at Morningside in 1997. He served as director of admissions from 1998 – 2007 and recently was appointed the assistant vice president of constituent development in the department of institutional advancement at the college. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Morningside College and a master’s degree from the University of South Dakota.


Iowa ACAC is a non-profit organization made up of admission professionals, high school counselors and outside educational organizations. The goal of IACAC is to provide resources to assist students and families in the college selection process.


The association also sponsors college fairs around the state and provides professional development opportunities for high school counselors and admission professionals.
