Morningside College welcomes

new staff members

Morningside College announces the addition of 12 new staff members who have joined the college in recent months.


The new employees include James Braunschweig, Jeremy Meyers, Tricia Slump, and Taylor Templeton, all as admissions counselors; Debbie Anderson, Brenda Hough, Jill Johnson, Ron McKelvey, and Lori Moritz, all in housekeeping and custodial; Karen Dreessen, administrative assistant to the director of Alumni Relations; Arlowene Washburn, part-time secretary; and Beth Watson, payroll clerk and administrative coordinator for the Business Office.


Braunschweig received a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Morningside in May. He was a member of the Morningside baseball team and completed internships with the Sioux City Musketeers and J.D. Gordon Design in Sioux City. He is responsible for assisting students and their families from southern Iowa and several states across the country.


Meyers will graduate from Morningside in August with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. He was a member of the Morningside cross country and track teams and served the college as a student ambassador for the past three years. He is responsible for representing Morningside at college fairs and high schools in Nebraska.

Slump graduated from Morningside in May with a bachelor’s degree in human resources management and business administration. She was a member of Morningside’s dance and drill teams, served as a student assistant in the office of Admissions for the past two years, and was assistant director for new student orientation. She represents Morningside at high schools and college fairs in Iowa.

Templeton graduated from Morningside in May with a bachelor’s degree in music with an emphasis in marketing. He served as a student ambassador for the college for the past three years and as assistant to an admissions counselor since 2005. Templeton is responsible for assisting students and their families from Omaha and Lincoln, Neb., along with several Midwest states and Texas.

Anderson came to Morningside from Menards, where she was a sales associate for the past 12 years. She is responsible for housekeeping and custodial duties in Dimmitt Hall.


Hough comes to Morningside from St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, where she served as a supervisor in the housekeeping and janitorial departments. She serves as manager of the custodial staff at Morningside.
Johnson previously served as caretaker of Wellington At The Dunes apartment complex in Dakota Dunes, S.D. She is responsible for general housekeeping and custodial duties in various campus buildings.


McKelvey most recently worked in Branson, Mo., where he was responsible for the care of several motels and lodges in the area. He is responsible for floor care and other custodial duties for the physical plant.


Moritz comes to Morningside after having worked for Adecco in Sioux City. She is responsible for housekeeping and custodial duties in Charles City Hall and Roadman Hall.


Dreessen (left) comes to Morningside from Tempe, Ariz., where she served as an executive assistant for Avnet Technology Solutions. She assists with maintenance of alumni records and planning and coordination of alumni events.


Washburn was previously employed as a merchandiser for National Retail Services. She is responsible for administrative duties in the department of Mass Communication.


Watson (right) graduated from Morningside in May with a bachelor’s degree in religious studies and psychology counseling. She was a member of the Morningside women’s basketball team and worked in the college’s Business Office for the past three years. She is responsible for payroll processing and other administrative duties for the Business Office.
