The show features paintings about the way humans build and the creative design and engineering we have developed to serve a culture based on our favorite and essential means of transport, the car.
“I've been looking at this architecture for some time – roads, bridges, gas stations, motels, rest areas,” McGaffin said.
McGaffin has worked as a professional artist for many years, and has acquired a regional and national exhibition record. She has exhibited recently at Wayne State College, the Sioux City Art Center and the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls. Her work is in the collections of the Sioux City Art Center, Morningside College, Mercy Medical Center and the University of South Dakota, as well as many private collections.
She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drawing and painting from Drake University in Des Moines and a Master of Fine Arts in painting from the University of South Dakota. She grew up in the Quad Cities on the Mississippi River and has been at home in Sioux City since 1984.
