Morningside College is one of 28 Iowa private colleges and universities that will be hosting high school seniors and juniors and their parents during Iowa Private College Week, August 1-5.
Sue Pyburn, associate director of admissions at Morningside, said Iowa Private College Week gives prospective students and their families a week-long opportunity to make coordinated visits to Iowa’s private college campuses.
At Morningside, two sessions daily at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. will offer campus tours and information about academics, college life and financial aid. Participants also will meet current students and faculty. In addition, visiting students will take part in a series of activities and receive free Morningside T-shirts.
Each high school student who registers for Iowa Private College week receives a “passport.” At each school a prospective student visits, he or she will receive a stamp in the passport. Morningside will award two $500 bookstore vouchers to students who visit during the week, collect the required three or more passport stamps and then apply to Morningside, are accepted and enroll. The passport also is good for a five-cents-per-gallon gasoline discount when presented at any Iowa Casey’s General Store during the week.
Iowa Private College Week is sponsored by the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. High school students interested in registering for Iowa Private College Week at Morningside can contact the college’s admissions office at 712-274-5511 or go directly to the website at www.morningside.edu.
