| “Jennifer at the Eclipse,” an oil portrait on muslin, is one of the paintings and lithographic prints by Stephen Haas that will be on display through Feb. 25 in the Hickman-Johnson-Furrow Learning Center. |
Paintings and lithographic prints by artist Stephen Haas will be on display through Feb. 25 in the Hickman-Johnson-Furrow Learning Center on the Morningside College campus.
Images in the exhibit explore the human form and represent “ten years of focus on the figure as a vehicle expressing a wide range of personal observations,” Haas said.
A reception for Haas is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, in Morningside’s Hickman-Johnson-Furrow Learning Center.
Haas, a native of Birmingham, Ala., earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Montevallo, Ala., and has studied at the University of South Dakota and Wichita State University. He is an adjunct instructor at Wayne State College. In addition to painting and lithography, Haas works in fabric arts and installation.
With Morningside adjunct instructor Amy Foltz, he will be offering a Morningside College May Term 2010 session in the fabric arts practices of batik and tie-dyeing.
