An educational program teaching students how to prevent sexual assault and campus violence will be presented at Morningside College at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the Yockey Room in Olsen Student Center, 3609 Peters Ave.
The public is invited to the free event, which is sponsored by Morningside Resident Education and Personal Counseling.
“SavVy: Students against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence” will be presented by Penny Schempp, counselor for Western Iowa Technical Community College (WIT), and students from the program.
Schempp and WIT students will be discussing the creation of this anti-violence group on campus as well as sharing some information on prevention of assault and violence.
“Valuable information will be presented about how students can work together to prevent violence on our campus, along with how students can advocate for themselves and others in the event of violence,” said Brenda Crawford, a personal counselor at Morningside College.
