"Zivanka" by Jodi Melnichak |
A reception honoring the work of local artist Jodi Melnichak will be held at Morningside College from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Hickman Johnson Furrow Learning Center, 1601 Morningside Ave. The public is invited to the reception.
This event is to honor the local artist at the close of her exhibition in the learning center. The exhibition has displayed Melnichak’s work in oil on canvas.
“The figurative content of the work is rich in color subtlety, value and textural quality. The figures have a compelling presence, and the paintings offer a varied perspective on their humanity,” said Terri McGaffin, assistant professor of art at Morningside College.
Melnichak received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio art from Briar Cliff University, with a minor in psychology.
As a part of the reception, guitarist Keith Misery will be providing musical entertainment for the evening.
