Eleven soloists and two ensembles from the Morningside College Music Department will present a vocal and instrumental recital at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, at United Church of Christ in Onawa. The recital is free and open to the public.
“We’re happy to be able to perform off-campus for a completely different audience from our usual on-campus audiences,” said Gail Dooley, associate professor of music and interim chair of Morningside’s music department. “It’s a joy to be able to share with the larger community the talents of our accomplished students.”
Vocal soloists will perform art songs, operatic arias and Broadway selections. Morningside’s Eclectix Vocal Jazz Ensemble will perform jazz arrangements of standard songs. Composers represented on the program include Caccini, Mozart, Clementi, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Puccini and Bernstein.
