A cappella men’s group to perform at Morningside

An a cappella men’s group will perform at Morningside College at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, in Morningside College’s Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave.

The public is invited to the free event, which is sponsored by Morningside’s Academic and Cultural Arts Series (ACAS) and the Morningside College Activities Council (MAC).

InPulse is a “vocal band” that performs well-known hits, such as Ryan Cabrera’s “True” and Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time,” as well as original songs. The group trained at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., and debuted in 2003. InPulse has won numerous awards, among them grand champion at the 2004 Rocky Mountain Harmony Sweepstakes in Denver, Colo., and runner-up for Campus Activities Magazine’s 2007 Band of the Year. The group has sold more than 25,000 copies of its recordings.

InPulse was invited to Morningside College after a couple of Morningside students saw the group perform at a National Association for Campus Activities event in St. Paul, Minn. The students were representing their peers at the conference, watching entertainers and considering which ones they would like to book to come to Morningside College. InPulse was one of their favorites, said Andrew Pflipsen, area coordinator/student activities coordinator at Morningside.

“They did a really good job, and we thought we’d bring them to campus,” he said.
