Cliff Towner, assistant professor of music and director of bands at Morningside College, has been appointed to the Association of Concert Bands (ACB) Board of Directors.
In addition to directing the college’s symphonic wind ensemble and the Morningside College Outdoor Band, Towner also serves as conductor for the Siouxland All-America Concert Band.
Towner received his bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Cincinnati and his master’s degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He joined the Morningside College music faculty in 2004. He started playing trumpet with the Siouxland All-America Concert Band in 2004 and became the band’s conductor in 2006.
ACB was founded in August 1977 as a not-for-profit corporation. The organization encourages and fosters adult concert community, municipal, and civic bands and promotes the performance of the highest quality traditional and contemporary literature for band.
