Morningside College
will mark the observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day with
a special program on Monday, Jan.
17, at 3 p.m. in the UPS Auditorium of the Lincoln
Center. The event is free and open to the public.
The Rev. H. C. McGruder,
pastor at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Sioux City, will emcee
the event. The Rev. Lanette Plambeck, director of church relations
at Morningside, will lead the audience in prayer. Andrew Weaver
will recite Dr. King's famous speech "I Have a Dream." Music
will be provided by members of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church
choir. Other community and campus leaders, including former
Sioux City councilman Tony Drake, will also be present for
the event.
