War has hit Morningside campus in the form of an underwear competition. This competition, sponsored by the Morningside Student Nurse Association (MSNA), challenged the MSNA against two fraternities, Acacia and Sigma Delta Phi, to see who could collect the most new underwear.
The event, which began on Jan. 25 and ended Feb. 13, was an effort to raise donations of clean, new underwear for area charities. The underwear will be donated to the Gospel Mission, the Women and Children’s Center and the Domestic Violence Center. Though underwear was the main donation, other donations were accepted as well.
The winner of the competition, MSNA, received a trophy of gold underwear as well as the pride of helping the community by collecting 248 pairs of underwear. Sigma Delta Phi collected 160 pairs and Acacia collected 45 pairs respectively.
“Men, women, and children who have very little or those who are going through a rough time in their lives will benefit from some clean undergarments. This need can easily get overlooked when money is tight for families,” said Amy Salton, MSNA president.
