Morningside College sponsored a mock trial scrimmage for regional colleges and universities that took place on Saturday, Feb. 7, in the Woodbury County Courthouse.
Schools that participated include Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa; Central College in Pella, Iowa; Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., University of South Dakota in Vermillion; and Morningside College.
Judging the mock trial scrimmage were Judge Jeffrey Neary of the Third Judicial District of Iowa; Erik Evans, law clerk for the Third Judicial District of Iowa; Bryan Goodman, assistant public defender for the state of Iowa.; Jayme Kirsch and James Loomis, assistant Woodbury County attorneys; Mick Connealy and Michael Schmiedt, attorneys at Crary Huff Law Firm; and Jen Roemen, a Morningside College graduate and former member of the mock trial team.
