Morningside College announces the promotion of one of its faculty members.
Lorna Leavitt, formerly visiting instructor of education, has accepted the position of assistant professor of education. Leavitt joined Morningside’s faculty in 2005, teaching courses in special education, mild-moderate methods, and diagnostic math classes, among others.
Leavitt’s previous experience includes serving as special education instructor and multicategorical resource room teacher for the Marcus-Meriden Cleghorn, River Valley, and Cherokee school districts. She also served as adjunct professor for Buena Vista University at their Le Mars campus. She received the Professionally Recognized Special Educator certificate by the national Council for Exceptional Children for the 1999-2000 academic year.
Leavitt received her bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, and holds a master’s degree in teaching multicategorical disabilities from Morningside in 1995.
