Morningside College will host a series of Brown Bag events during the upcoming months. The events include discussion of several books and will be held at the Hickman-Johnson-Furrow Learning Center, 1601 Morningside Avenue, on the college campus. The events are open to the public and participants are invited to bring their lunch or purchase refreshments in the Spoonholder Café, located inside the learning center.
The events, times, and discussion leaders include:
Wednesday, Feb. 14, 12 p.m. – 1 p.m: “The Splendid Solution: Jonas Salk and the Conquest of Polio” by Jeffrey Kluger, the 2007 selection for All Iowa Reads. Discussion led by Kitty Green, instructor of history and political science, and Dr. Jane Hey, professor and chair of biology and chemistry at Morningside.
Wednesday, March 14, 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.: “Dave at Night” by Gail Carson Levine. Discussion of this children’s book will be led by Lorna Leavitt, assistant professor of education, and Cathy Wilt, visiting instructor of education at Morningside.
Wednesday, March 21, 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.: “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the 2007 selection for One Book One Siouxland. Discussion led by Dr. Sean Meehan, assistant professor of English at Morningside.
