Morningside College to host ACT workshop

for high school students

Chad Cargill of Cargill Consulting, Inc., will lead an ACT workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Yockey Room of the Olsen Student Center, 3609 Peters Avenue, on the campus of Morningside College.

The event is for high school sophomores and juniors and is sponsored by the Sioux City Community School District and Morningside College’s Regional Center for Teaching and Learning.

The workshop will focus on test taking tips and study strategies for the ACT and is designed for students who plan to take the ACT test in April. Each participant will receive an ACT prep workbook. The three-hour seminar will be followed by optional small study group opportunities.

Cost is $45, which includes the workshop, workbook, and optional study sessions. Refreshments will be provided by Morningside College.

Advance registration and payment is required by Friday, February 16. Students in the Sioux City School District can register through their high school guidance counselors. Checks should be made payable to Sioux City Community Schools. Students not in the Sioux City Community Schools system can register by contacting April Netley at (712) 239-7008.

Cargill, the founder and president of Cargill Consulting, developed his ACT prep program through his own real life experience. He took the ACT test 18 times while he was in high school. In the process, he developed his own test-taking strategies, problem solving methods, and practical common sense techniques that helped increase his score from a 19 to a 32.
