Three Morningside College business students placed 52nd out of 2,846 teams in a worldwide online business simulation.
The online simulation, called the Business Strategy Game, is the most widely played computer simulation in the strategic management market and is used in business schools all across the world. Each company in the simulated industry is managed by a team of students who must match their strategic wits against the other teams.
The Business Strategy Game is the centerpiece for a business policy course at Morningside College.
"The game is extremely complex, and requires competence in marketing, operations forecasting, finance, and many other real world business skills. Because of its difficulty and complexity, I am especially proud of the achievement of the team members, and I look forward to following their progress after graduation,” said Mary Zink, visiting instructor of business and team instructor.
Balazs Gerencser of Hungary, Kacie Gould of Laurel, Neb., and Corey Parry of Lawton, Iowa, are members of the ranking team, Bugatti Shoes. The team ranked in the global top 100 for the week of Feb. 6-12. Bugatti Shoes achieved a score of 107.5 out of a possible 110.
