Barbara “Cathy” Wilt, assistant professor of education at Morningside College, joined two recent Morningside students in giving a presentation in October at the Kappa Delta Pi Convocation in Orlando, Fla.
Kappa Delta Pi is an international honor society in education. Morningside’s presentation at the conference was “Web-Based Portfolios: Collaboration for Success.”
Wilt worked with Kari Hansen and Janet Sibenaller last spring and summer to develop Web-based portfolios, which can be used by teachers and teacher candidates to show evidence of achievement of professional standards.
“Other teachers and teacher preparation institutions were interested in what we were doing at Morningside College to assess the students in our teacher preparation program and to meet state teaching standards,” Wilt said.
Hansen is now a special education teacher at Walnut Grove Elementary School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Sibenaller is a high school Spanish teacher in the Westwood Community School District in Sloan, Iowa.
