Members of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) recently elected Gerry Bouma of Sioux City, chair of the music department at Morningside College, to the NASM Committee on Ethics.
The three-person committee deals with all ethics complaints by member schools, particularly relating to violations in the recruitment of faculty and students. Other members of the committee are Paul Bauer from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, and John Richmond from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
Bouma also serves as an accreditation evaluator for NASM.
NASM is an association of approximately 610 schools of music, primarily at the collegiate level, but also including precollegiate and community schools of music. It is the national accrediting agency for music and music-related disciplines.
