Dr. Mark Carlson,
a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in Washington
County, Minn., will lead a discussion following the video,
"Coming Out, Coming Home" on Monday,
Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. in the UPS Auditorium of the
Lincoln Center, 3627 Peters Avenue. The free event is sponsored
by the Academic and Cultural Arts Series (ACAS) at Morningside
and is open to the public.
"Coming Out, Coming
Home" is a video intended to help families, churches, and
other groups learn more about the experiences of lesbian,
gay, and bisexual people. The film was co-written and co-produced
by Carlson and is comprised of more than 40 personal stories
of people who attend Spirit of the Lakes United Church of
Christ located in Minneapolis, Minn. Carlson also wrote the
discussion guide which accompanies the video.
Carlson received his
doctorate in clinical psychology from Wayne State University
in Detroit, Mich. He is a supervisor at SPMI Services, a day
treatment program for depression located in Oakdale, Minn.
