Morningside College announces new staff employees

Morningside College has announced the addition of five staff employees and a change in duties for one other employee.


The new employees include the following: Chris Delfs, computer technician; Molli Ginger and Jennifer Marlow, regional development officers for the office of Institutional Advancement; Andrew Pfilpsen, area coordinator/coordinator for resident education; and Wendy Wilde, athletic department receptionist.


Randee Small, coordinator of publications, assumed additional duties as the college's Webmaster.


Delfs will work with the Morningside Computer Support Center professional and student staff and Authorized Service Provider technicians to support the notebook computers that the college provides to its students.


Delfs has provided computer support in the Morningside Computer Support Center since Oct. 2005. He was a computer tech support representative at Gateway Inc. from 2002 to 2004 and worked in manufacturing at Gateway from 1999 to 2002.


Delfs holds an associates degree in liberal arts and sciences from Western Iowa Tech Community College.


Ginger, a 2004 Morningside graduate, had been a pre-school teacher at Kathy’s Childhood Learning Center in Sioux City and a waiver program worker at Opportunities Unlimited in Sioux City. She is also an assistant coach for the Morningside softball team.


Marlow, a 2004 Morningside graduate, had been a substitute teacher for Sioux City Community Schools and programs coordinator for Siouxland Youth Athletics. She is also an assistant coach for the Morningside softball team.


Regional development officers cultivate and solicit major gifts from alumni, friends of Morningside, and corporations located in their assigned geographic areas.


Pflipsen will coordinate the day-to-day essential functions of residence halls and apartment buildings and assist in the development of resident education programs. He will participate in the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of paraprofessional and student employees, direct weekly staff meetings with head residents and resident assistants, and monitor and evaluate resident education programs.


He comes to Morningside from McCook Community College, McCook, Neb., where he was director of housing and student activities.


Pflipsen is a 2004 graduate of Saint John’s University, Collegeville, Minn.


Wilde was previously a receptionist and ticket seller for the Tyson Events Center and Orpheum Theatre in Sioux City. She has also been a receptionist at First Federal Bank and Gateway Inc.


She holds a degree in information word processing from Western Iowa Tech Community College.


Small holds a bachelor's degree in graphic arts from Morningside and has been employed at the college since 1988. She has nearly 20 years experience in graphic arts.

As Webmaster, Small will be responsible for assisting in the production of online content and development and design of Web site pages, providing training and support to Web editors, and overseeing maintenance of the site, among other duties.

Small assumes her additional responsibilities on Sept. 1.
