Christian Burk has been hired as director of Public Relations at Morningside College and began his duties on Aug. 1.
He is chiefly responsible for providing timely and relevant information to local and regional media about the college, developing and implementing Morningside’s annual communications and marketing plans, and creating and maintaining a visually and stylistically consistent message for the college. He will also serve as editor of the college’s alumni magazine.
Burk has more than seven years of experience in public relations. Most recently, he served as director of marketing and public relations at the Omaha Children’s Museum from 2002 to 2006. He also worked at the Omaha Symphony in 2002 as public relations manager and at the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce as public relations assistant and newsletter editor from 1999 to 2002.
Burk is a current board member of The ARTery, an arts education organization in Omaha, Neb., and a former board member of Downtown Omaha Inc.
Burk received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English with an emphasis in creative writing at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
