Morningside College students to exhibit artwork

Morningside College students who have studied batik and tie-dye fabric arts will have their work on display during the show “Dye Hard” from Monday, Aug. 22, through Tuesday, Sept. 27, in Eppley Art Gallery, 3625 Garretson Ave.

A reception for the artists will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, in the art gallery. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.

During a three-week May Term course, the students learned about the history of the batik process and different ways they could make their own wall art or wearable art. They were able to experiment with various dye processes, such as shibori, found object wrapping, tie dyeing, using indigo, and working with wax.

The Eppley Art Gallery is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
