Morningside College chapter of psychology national honor society

wins Model Chapter Award for third year in a row

The Morningside College chapter of Psi Chi, a national honor society in psychology, received a Model Chapter Award for the 2007-08 academic year from the Psi Chi National Council in Chattanooga, Tenn.

There are more than 1,000 Psi Chi chapters throughout the nation, and about 30 of them receive this distinction in any given year. This is the third year in a row that Morningside College’s chapter has received the award.

Model Chapter Awards are presented annually to recognize and reward Psi Chi chapters that consistently maintain outstanding records of membership inductions, chapter correspondence, service projects and other criteria associated with being an outstanding chapter. All chapters submitting evidence of meeting these criteria were designated as winners.

Larry Sensenig, professor and chair of psychology, is the Morningside Psi Chi chapter’s faculty advisor.

The Morningside Psi Chi student officers for the 2007-08 academic year were president Sabrina Higgins of Des Moines, Iowa; vice president Samantha Fritsch of Neola, Iowa; secretary Hollie Vaughan of Mallard, Iowa; social chair Skye Slater of Pierre, S.D.; and historian Miranda Heyer Stroh of Sioux City.
