Maggie Vander Stelt, a Morningside College student from Maurice, Iowa, was one of 15 students in the nation to receive a James G. Stemler Study Abroad Scholarship from Alpha Lambda Delta.
Alpha Lambda Delta is a national honor society that recognizes and encourages academic excellence among first-year college and university students. Since its inception in 1924, the national honor society has grown to find homes on over 270 campuses throughout the United States.
Vander Stelt will spend the spring of 2013 studying in Granada, Spain. She is the daughter of Mike and Audrey Vander Stelt of Maurice, and a 2010 graduate of MOC-Floyd Valley High School. Her major at Morningside is Spanish teaching.
Vander Stelt served this year as social director for the Morningside chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta. Chapter advisors are Marty Knepper, professor and chair of English, and Terri Curry, vice president for student life and enrollment.
