Morningside College Music Department to present end-of-the-year concert

The Morningside College Music Department will perform a year-end concert at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, in the Buhler Outdoor Performance Center on the Morningside campus.
            

The event is free and open to the public.
            

Performing groups will include the Morningside College Choir, the Singing Men of Morningside, Bel Canto, Eclectix and the Lyric Theatre Ensemble.

The Morningside College Choir will perform pieces ranging from the traditional hymn “Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal” to “Exultate Justi in Domino” by Ludovico da Viadana. The Singing Men of Morningside will sing “He Never Failed Me Yet,” a gospel piece by Robert Ray, and “Tell My Father” from “The Civil War: An American Musical” by Jack Murphy and Frank Wildhorn. Bel Canto will sing “Oye” by Jim Papoulis. Eclectix will perform selections such as Paul McCartney’s “Blackbird” and Paul Simon’s “Old Friends.” The Lyric Theatre Ensemble will perform selections from “Sweeney Todd.”
            

The Morningside College Choir, the Singing Men of Morningside and Eclectix are under the direction of Tim Watson. Bel Canto is under the direction of Jill Wilson, and the Lyric Theatre Ensemble is under the direction of Kate Saulsbury and Shannon Salyards.
