Morningside College concert on May 2 to raise funds for disaster relief in Japan

Morningside College senior music major Keisuke Mukai from Tokyo, Japan, will be a featured performer at the Morningside College jazz concert on Monday, May 2, that will raise funds for disaster relief in Japan.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Eppley Auditorium on the Morningside campus and is free and open to the public. David Lambert, assistant professor of music and director of instrumental jazz, said donations collected at the concert will go to the American Red Cross for eventual use in Japan as that country continues to recover from the March earthquake and tsunami.

Performing during the concert will be the Morningside College Jazz Band, Morningside’s Eclectix Vocal Jazz Ensemble and the Reggie Schive Big Band. Mukai plays tenor saxophone with the college’s jazz band.
