Two Morningside College students have been selected to receive a Professional Achievement Award from MENC Collegiate, and Morningside’s chapter received an award for growth in membership.

MENC: The National Association for Music Education is one of the world’s largest arts education organizations, with a membership of more than 75,000 active, retired and pre-service music teachers. Its mission is to advance music education by encouraging the study and making of music by all.

Morningside College seniors Emily Cox of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Nick McGraw of Sioux City were both chosen to receive a Professional Achievement Award, which distinguishes individual MENC Collegiate members for their commitment and dedication to MENC and music education.

The Morningside College chapter also received a Chapter Growth Certificate of Achievement for significant chapter growth in 2009.

The chapter advisor for MENC Collegiate at Morningside College is Jill Wilson, assistant professor of music education.
