Morningside College will host a Masterworks Choral Concert with The Lyric Theatre Ensemble at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 17, in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave. This event is free and open to the public.
The concert will open with The Lyric Theatre Ensemble performing scenes from operas by Mozart, Verdi, Bizet, and Gilbert and Sullivan. The second half of the concert will be a performance of Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem.
Fauré’s Requiem will be performed by the Morningside College Choral Union. The Choral Union is a combination of the Bel Canto Women’s Chorus, the Singing Men of Morningside and the Morningside College Choir.
The Lyric Theatre Ensemble is directed by Kate Saulsbury, music director, and Stephen Lundberg, stage director. Tim Watson, assistant professor of music, and Jill Wilson, assistant professor of music education, direct the Morningside College Choral Union. The organist for Fauré’s Requiem will be Jayne Koch.
