The Morningside College Music Department will host “A Night on Broadway,” a musical variety show to benefit the Food Bank of Siouxland, on Friday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m. in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Avenue.
The public is invited to the event, which is sponsored by Morningside’s Academic and Cultural Arts Series (ACAS) and by the Morningside Student Music Advisory Council. A free will donation will be taken at the door with all proceeds going to the Food Bank of Siouxland.
The event will feature students and faculty from the music department performing Broadway style acts. The acts will include songs from Broadway musicals such as “42nd Street,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Dreamgirls,” “Sweeny Todd,” “Mama Mia,” “The Scarlet Pimpernel,” “Avenue Q,” “Rent,” “Hairspray,” “The Producers,” and “Wicked.”
The program will include two production numbers, instrumentals, vocalists, and dancers. Some of the scheduled performers include the Morningside College Choir, the Singing Men of Morningside, Bel Canto Women’s Choir, a faculty show choir, Mu Phi Epsilon Ensemble, Collegiate Music Educators National Conference Ensemble, a clarinet quartet, and a trumpet trio.
