Dr. Jim Stroh |
Dr. Jim Stroh, associate professor and chair of biology and chemistry at Morningside College, took five students to Des Moines, Iowa, to make presentations April 17-18 at the annual meeting of the Iowa Academy of Science.
Stroh gave an oral presentation, and the students were responsible for two poster presentations. The students who presented at the conference were Thomas Butzke of Staplehurst, Neb.; Patrick Dempsey of Papillion, Neb.; Adam Mathers of Correctionville, Iowa; Brett Miner of Humboldt, Iowa; and Ryan Oetken of Akron, Iowa.
The presentations were the result of two years of mammal research in Stone State Park and Mount Talbot State Preserve. Over the past two years, 11 students and several classes have been participating in this mammal research. It is part of an ongoing project designed to determine the status of small mammals in the Loess Hills of Western Iowa.
