A program examining gender roles will be presented at Morningside College on Monday, April 21, at 7 p.m. in the UPS Auditorium in Lincoln Center, 3627 Peters Ave.
The public is invited to the free event, which is sponsored by Morningside’s Academic and Cultural Arts Series (ACAS).
“The Gender Box” will be presented by Brenda Crawford, personal counselor at Morningside, and Andrew Pflipsen, area coordinator/coordinator of resident education at the college.
The program looks at the gender roles of both men and women – how gender impacts a person’s daily life and what misperceptions exist about the opposite gender. It also serves as a forum for men and women to discuss openly the sociopolitical issues involving gender. The program is very participatory, allowing plenty of time for questions.
“It’s a fun, interactive and sometimes ‘charged’ program,” said Crawford, who has a doctorate in counseling psychology from Iowa State University. “It is both educational and entertaining.”
