Students among winners in

National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition

Morningside College students were among the winners of the Lewis & Clark Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Competition held recently at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa.

About 100 singers from some 10 colleges and voice studios participated in the competition, and two Morningside College students were among the singers selected to perform at the honors recital at the end of the day. Katie Gorden, a sophomore from Le Mars, Iowa, represented two competition categories at the honors recital – the sophomore women’s division and the undergraduate musical theatre division. Austin Ray, a senior from Sioux City, performed at the honors recital representing the upper undergraduate men’s division.

Also participating in the NATS Competition were Morningside College students Megan Beery, a sophomore from Shenandoah, Iowa, and Nick McGraw, a sophomore from Sioux City.
