The Morningside College Volunteers in Mission (VIM) Team will share their experiences of working in hurricane-stricken areas of Louisiana on Wednesday, April 25, at 11:45 a.m. in the Roadman Hall Formal Lounge, 3600 Peters Avenue.
In addition to sharing their experience, the VIM Team will discuss the southern culture they encountered and show pictures of their time in Louisiana.
The public is invited to this free presentation, which is sponsored by Morningside’s Academic and Cultural Arts Series (ACAS).
From March 3-10 the VIM Team, comprised of 19 Morningside students and two staff members, helped survivors of Hurricanes Rita and Katrina in the Lake Charles area. While in Louisiana, they tore off and replaced the roof of one house, removed moldy drywall, carpeting, and linoleum, and laid wood laminate flooring in other houses.
