Film festival to be held at Morningside College

The Morningside College Film Festival will be held on Friday, April 27, at 5 p.m. in the UPS Auditorium of the Lincoln Center, 3627 Peters Avenue. The public is invited to attend this free event.

The film festival is sponsored by Morningside’s Academic and Cultural Arts Series (ACAS).

More than 12 documentary, fiction, live-action short, and animated films submitted by Morningside faculty, staff, and students will be screened during the festival. The films, in a variety of formats including VHS, MiniDV, and DVD, will be evaluated by a panel of reviewers, who will then offer feedback to filmmakers. The panel will consist of Dr. Mark Heistad, assistant professor of mass communication; Dr. Jack Hill, associate professor of psychology; Dr. Stephen Coyne, professor of English; Karen Johnson, circulation manager at the Hickman-Johnson-Furrow Learning Center; and Morningside student Phil Lieder.

“There is a thriving film-making community here on the Morningside College campus,” said Tug Buse, assistant professor of mass communication and organizer of the event. “This festival will offer an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to see and support each other’s work.”
