The Morningside College Music Department will hold a voice recital on Thursday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Avenue. The recital is free and open to the public.
The entire recital will feature selections by composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in celebration of this 250th birthday. Works to be performed include “Ridente la calma,” “Der Zauberer,” “An Chloë,” “Als Luise die Briefe,” a movement from the solo cantata “Exultate, jubilate,” and eight arias from the operas “LeNozze de Figaro,” “Don Giovanni,” and “Così fan tutte.”
Morningside College students who will perform during the recital and their hometowns include:
Sioux City: Amanda Goss and Laura Roost.
Iowa: Emily Faber and Brandon Shostak, Le Mars; Amanda Flater, Marshalltown; Andrea Jenson, Pocahontas; Amanda Leu, Spencer; Maggie McDermott, Oto; Himi Mizutani, Paullina; Jonathan Rotramel, Anthon; Geana Schneider, Merrill; Danielle Westphal, Lenox.
Other countries: Hitomi Nozawa, Japan.
Accompanists for the recital include pianists Eunho Kim and Michele Grossman, adjunct instructors of music at Morningside College, and Carolyn Price.
Voice instructors for the students are Dr. Gail Dooley, associate professor music, and Kate Saulsbury, adjunct instructor of music.
