The Morningside College Music Department will present “A Musical Spring Fling,” a concert featuring the college’s symphonic wind ensemble, brass quartet, percussion ensemble, and recorder ensemble on Saturday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. in Eppley Auditorium.
The public is invited to the free event, which is sponsored by Morningside’s Academic and Cultural Arts Series (ACAS).
The symphonic wind and percussion ensembles and brass quartet are directed by Clifford Towner, assistant professor of music. The recorder ensemble is directed by Esther D’Agrosa, associate professor of music.
Soprano Dr. Gail Dooley, associate professor of music at Morningside, will be a guest soloist when the symphonic wind ensemble performs the last three movements entitled “Amazing Grace,” “Old Time Religion,” and “Shall We Gather at the River” from Luigi Zaninelli’s “Five American Folk Songs.”
Guest musicians during the brass quartet’s performance of Darisu Milhaud’s “Suite Op. 157b” will include flutist Jill Ellickson of Sioux City, violinist Devora Geller, a junior from Des Moines, Iowa, and pianist Jennifer Van Otterloo, a senior from Sheldon, Iowa.
