Morningside College students present recitals

Several Morningside College students will hold recitals in the upcoming weeks. The free recitals will be held in Eppley Auditorium. The public is invited.

Emily Faber, mezzo-soprano, will present the voice recital “Love is…” on Friday, April 8, at 7:30 p.m. The program will include Frederick Loewe’s “Show Me” from the musical “My Fair Lady” and Jerry Herman’s “If He Walked Into My Life” from the musical “Mame.” Faber will also perform selections from Bach, Robert Schumann, Vincenzo Bellini, and others. Accompanying Faber will be JoAnn Kots on piano.

Chiao-Chun Chang of Sioux City will present a senior piano recital on Sunday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. Chang’s program will include works by Mozart, Debussy, Domenico Scarlatti, and Robert Muczynski. Dr. James March, professor of music at Morningside, will serve as accompanist.

Jennifer Van Otterloo will hold a piano recital on Tuesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. Van Otterloo’s program will include the Suite for Clarinet, Violin, and Piano, Op. 157b by Darius Milhaud. She will be joined by Morningside College senior Jill Ellickson on clarinet and Morningside College junior Devora Geller on violin. Van Otterloo’s program will continue with works by Schumann, Liszt, Samuel Barber, and Edward Mac Dowell. Accompanist will be Dr. Kathryn March, adjunct instructor of piano at Morningside.

Devora Geller will present a junior violin recital on Friday, April 15 at 7:30 p.m. Geller’s program will include the Suite for Clarinet, Violin, and Piano, Op. 157b by Darius Milhaud. She will be joined by Morningside College senior Jill Ellickson on clarinet and Morningside College senior Jennifer Van Otterloo on piano. Her program will continue with works by Bach, Beethoven, Milhaud, and Tchaikovsky. She will be accompanied on separate works by Dr. Kathryn March and Dr. James March.

Kayla Glaza, soprano, will present a voice recital on Sunday, April 24, at 7 p.m. Glaza’s program will include works by Franz Schubert, G. F. Handel, John Duke, Stephen Schwartz, Jacques Offenbach, Claude Debussy, and Gian Carlo Menotti. Accompanying Glaza will be JoAnn Kots on piano.
