Course
Entry Page
One important aspect of the Blackboard site which can not be left untouched is
the explanation of the Course Entry page. Hopefully,
this
will
help
clear
up
some
of the mystery surrounding the Blackboard courses.
On the left there will be a small picture Miller Hall in stone
and under this is a list of buttons that take you to parts of the
course.
These
buttons will give you access to course information, documents,
resources, etc.
There
are also three communication tools used to help enrich the learning
environment. These are email,
the discussion board, and the virtual
classroom.
| Email:
this function works with you existing email accounts and
allows you to select how groups for mass emailing or individual
emailing |
| Discussion
Board: this tool allows students to create original discussion
threads and respond to current ones. It’s a way for
students to have a debate on line and explore the complexities
of the subject. |
| Virtual
Classroom: this function is essentially a chat room similar
to ones you find at MSN and Yahoo. It also contains a whiteboard
that you can draw on that simulates the blackboard in a
physical classroom. At Morningside this function is not
widely used. |
The usual entry page for courses is its announcement page. However
the look of this page will be different for every course. Some
coursed have a picture above the actual informative part of the
page, others may not. The most important thing to remember about
this entry page is that the buttons on the left are the navigation
tools for the course.
