“Walk Like The Beatles” by Danielle Hulst; Submitted by Samantha Hansen
Taken at Abbey Road in Westminster during the Exploring London course with Dr. Marty (Steele) Knepper 1972, professor and chair of English.
“This photograph was taken on my camera of three other Morningside students and me walking across Abbey Road. A group of eight of us traveled to Westminster together to see Abbey Road. We split into groups of four and took turns walking across Abbey Road. It was embarrassing at first but it was more fun than anything because everyone else there was doing the same thing. It was really fun to walk across like The Beatles did on their album cover and try to recreate that image. This photograph is meaningful to me because it was me getting the chance to be a part of something one of my favorite bands did. Walking across Abbey Road is something I will never forget and was a really simple yet fun part of my time in the UK.” |

“Lean On Me” by Emily Lechtenberg
Taken in Utah during the Rafting the Yampa River course with Susie Lubbers, assistant professor of education, and Dr. Leslie Werden, assistant professor and chair of writing and rhetoric.
“As part of our trip, we went on many hikes. On this hike we got to cross a creek, see a waterfall and see artwork on the walls of the cliffs. Our theme song for the week was ‘Lean On Me.’ I thought this picture perfectly portrayed this theme. The current made it difficult to cross the creek without someone to lean on or the teamwork our group portrayed.” |

“Swimming in the Ocean with Wild Dolphins” by Lexie Matthey
Taken during the New Zealand 2011 course with Dr. Aaron Bunker, assistant professor of biology, and Dr. Jodi McKay, assistant professor of biology.
“This photo was taken right before we jumped in the ocean to swim with wild dolphins. I chose this photo because this day was amazing. I love the ocean and seeing all of these dolphins swimming around the boat was amazing. I remember taking this photo and being so excited right before because I knew I was going to be jumping in the ocean soon to swim with dolphins, which was on my bucket list! It was an amazing experience!!” |

“Pre-Death Jump” by Josh Beutler;
Submitted by Alex Smith
Taken at Kawarau Bridge in Queenstown, New Zealand, during the New Zealand 2011 course with Dr. Aaron Bunker, assistant professor of biology, and Dr. Jodi McKay, assistant professor of biology.
“This photo is of me before I jumped off of a 130-foot bridge. I had someone take this photo of me so I could remember this day for a long time, as if I were going to forget it. This picture is meaningful to me because it was the first time I had bungee jumped and it was one of the most exhilarating things I have ever done.” |

“Our Field of Dreams” by Allison Von Ehwegen
Taken at Lewis and Clark Park during the Sabermetrics: The Study of Baseball course with Dr. Christopher Spicer, assistant professor of mathematical sciences.
“This photo was taken at an Explorers game we attended during May Term. We had all just received our Explorers memorabilia, and we were allowed to go on the field and take a picture. We all enjoyed going to the games at night. It was an excellent May Term and a great group to share it with!” |
